What is Africa Code Week?
Africa Code Week is the story of hundreds of schools, teachers, governments, and non-profits getting together to bridge the digital and gender skills gap in Africa.
The goal of Africa Code Week is to empower the young generation by teaching the coding skills they need in order to thrive in the 21st century.
When and where does it take place?
Africa Code Week is a virtual/online event that will take place from

One of the benefits of using the CodeJIKA program is that teachers don’t need a technical background to get started.
During the 2022 Africa Code Week Season, CodeJIKA will be offering free teacher workshops that can help existing teachers learn basic coding and how to teach it to their students.
All you need to do is:
- Sign up for a CodeJIKA teacher webinar | Sign up.
- Host a coding intro session in your school | Start now.
(Teachers will be paid a stipend for each coding intro session). Fill out this report to get paid for work done.

Get started...
Host a coding session with 5 teachers in 3 schools and get them to sign up as a teacher on the CodeJIKA website.
Ideally these teachers should be the computer teachers, math teachers, school interns or science teachers.
During your workshop you must:
- Start with the “5 min Website” intro training.
- Introduce Project 1 (Training 1- 4).
- Ask teachers to complete Project 1 and 2 on their own.
- Add teachers to the Teacher Help WhatsApp Group where they will receive further assistance.
